Today, with the manifestation of the world’s Global Positioning Satellites GPS, a major emphasis has been placed upon accurate measure of the Earth’s places. The coordinate system has been in place a solid 200 plus years and all is in order. Or is it?
Years ago, at the time of the Harmonic Convergence (1987), there was, in the air, a message, that reached my ear. It spoke of a great failing of the ordering system, that has become so essential, during 2011-2012. After this time, horoscopes would fall out of alignment. This would only occur if the coordinating baselines of the modern world lost their alignment with the order of the far-flung Universe.
Enter Pluto into Capricorn and the CARDINAL GRAND CROSS of 2011. Capricorn, its ruler Saturn, and the 10th House of astrology all rule the respective leaders of nations, their rise and fall. We have seen troubles beset many nations of the Earth, both their leadership and social fabric. Capricorn also correlates with the material order of things, as does is sign ruler Saturn, and the number four - the key to the Cardinal Grand Cross. Four (4) is the number of Material Order. Four rules the very stones that order or universe - what we perceive as reality.
What have we been experiencing? Nothing short of the wholesale overturning of Material Order. An astrological look to previous history (the mid 1700s) gives hints of how pervasive change can be on Earth when Pluto is in Capricorn. We humans but dance on the skin of the Earth when she is molting.
Earth processes are Chthonic, meaning they are a process of change “in, under, or beneath the Earth”, without bias - complete, cyclical, and total. Look to the lava of the volcano for the end chthonic state. Tourists are drawn to the active volcanoes in the Canary Islands, Southern Chile, or the Congo to experience the thrall that this end state brings. It is at once beginning and ending, the Alpha and Omega. Volcanic magma will cool and recrystallize the Earth.
Like Dorothy, there is an affinity we all sense for a particular place at a particular time. This affinity is qualitative and comes across as anecdotal in the sharing. How can we articulate our affinity for a specific place in ways that can be better appreciated and empowering for another person?
Perhaps this special affinity was by design. Maybe our ‘special’ appreciation and perception of a particular place is part of the blessings each of us get when we come/born into the Earth’s reality. My research and documentation tell me, “Yes!”, we are each born predisposed to Earth’s many, but ‘finite’ places. Perhaps this ‘gift’ is our edge; much like the gift of strength Antaeus received from his mother Gaia/Earth, it is that protection each of us gleam uniquely from nursing upon, and later simply connecting with, our mother-creator’s body.
At the core of astrology is a ‘notion’ we English speakers call place, points measured within a fixed coordinate system that serves as a baseline; and against this coordinate system we track changes (the Sun and Moon’s passages through the system), which we experience as time.
Consciousness of place is instilled in every aspiring astrologer. We English speakers acknowledge place as simultaneously qualitative and quantitative ~ material and spacial ~ phantasmagorical and spiritual; for while place is proximate and tactile, it is also that which is qualitatively and subjectively precious, experienced without coordinate form.
The scientist in us has devised diabolical tools for the measure of place. We can fix a moving object, to a moving place, and strike that place with a moving weapon - the age of drones.
Another type of reality, simultaneous with the destructive drone, is an ability to attach meaning to the parts of the Earth, for each of 7 billion humans, born of her body.
"From its orbit 460 kilometres (286 miles) above Earth the crew onboard the ISS turned on the cameras and recorded images as it raced above the planet, travelling at nearly 28,000 km (17,000 miles) per hour."
